Farewell Collective Harvest

Those of you who are local have probably heard of Collective Harvest. When I first moved here in 2013, I learned of the local CSA and signed up for a subscription. Each week I would drive to either 1000 faces on Barber St. or a cafe in Watkinsville to pick up my share. We learned to make rutabagas and turnips, and lots of recipes for greens. We enjoyed fresh strawberries in season, granola, and locally baked bread. Collective Harvest grew over the years adding delivery and eventually the farmstand store on Baxter St.

So, we were so excited when we were able to offer our fresh mushrooms through Collective Harvest only a few short weeks ago. Along with everyone in the community, we were sad to hear about the closing of Collective Harvest. I’ve spent the morning harvesting and packing orders and was feeling grateful to have been included in a small part of this particular chapter in community agriculture. We are so grateful to the owners and founders who worked so hard to provide a valuable service to the community. We are grateful to all of the other farmers and vendors who came together to provide fresh and local produce, and we are especially grateful to all of the customers who gave our mushrooms a try over the last few weeks. We wish everyone the best as they move towards whatever life has in store for them next.
